Niall Cullen is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Dublin, Ireland. He is currently the recipient of the first ever Irish Arts Council Multi-Disciplinary Arts Bursary (2025). His work has been exhibited and screened internationally in cities including Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Rotterdam, and throughout Ireland.Cullen’s practice sits at the intersection of spiritual enquiry and dark humour, engaging with fragments of the internet and personal documentation of the world around him through acts of archiving and reappropriation. He works with film, moving image, painting, drawing and sound / composing music. His visual language is shaped by a DIY, punk sensibility, fusing obsolete analog technology with contemporary digital tools and traditional image making techniques.Television from the 1990s and early 2000s, Irish myth and archiving pockets of the internet are a huge source of inspiration and research material. The work manifests itself in gallery spaces, cinema and non-traditional spaces through a variety of outcomes; installations, screenings, paintings, drawings, digital image, musical / audio compositions and performance (presented both live & through film).
